Getting Started: Your First Steps on the Platform

Welcome Aboard

Whether you just signed up or you are exploring what the platform offers, this guide walks you through the essentials. By the end, you will know where everything is and how the different sections connect.

The Sidebar

The left sidebar is your main navigation. It is organized into logical groups:

  • ETF Section - Start here if you invest in exchange-traded funds. The ETF Focus page lets you analyze any single ETF, while Rankings and Filter help you discover and compare across the universe.
  • Equities Section - Individual stock analysis, a market-wide overview with daily movers and sector heatmaps, and rankings by index membership.
  • Futures Section - Futures market analysis including term structures, sector breakdowns, and correlation heatmaps.
  • Models - All available systematic trading models with live performance tracking.
  • Tools - Watchlists, position sizing calculators, and the Strategy Lab for combining models.

Analyzing a Single Security

The quickest way to start is to look up a security you are interested in:

  1. Go to ETF Focus or Stock Dashboard from the sidebar
  2. Enter a ticker symbol in the search box
  3. Review the charts, gauge indicators, and metrics below

Each dashboard page provides:

  • A candlestick price chart with volume
  • Performance indexed against SPY for relative comparison
  • Gauge charts showing trend strength, volatility, mean reversion, and size
  • A peer comparison table (for equities)

Understanding the Gauges

You will see circular gauge charts throughout the platform. Each gauge provides a quick visual summary:

  • Trend Strength - Based on the adjusted slope metric. Positive values indicate upward momentum, negative indicates downward.
  • Volatility - Shows current volatility relative to its own history. Higher readings mean the security is moving more than usual.
  • Mean Reversion - How far the price has moved from its moving averages. Extreme readings may indicate the price is extended.
  • Size - Market capitalization or fund assets, giving you a sense of liquidity.

Creating Your First Watchlist

Watchlists let you track a group of securities over time:

  1. Go to Watchlists in the Tools section
  2. Type a name and click Create
  3. Select your new watchlist and add ticker symbols
  4. The analytics table will show key metrics for all members

Once you have a watchlist, you can use it as input for the position sizing calculator instead of typing tickers manually every time.

Exploring Rankings

The ranking pages for both ETFs and stocks show securities sorted by momentum. The key columns to watch are:

  • Adjusted Slope - Trend direction and strength (higher is stronger uptrend)
  • R-squared - How consistent the trend is (higher means more reliable)
  • Volatility - Risk level

The bubble charts on these pages visualize the same data. Securities in the upper-right quadrant have strong, consistent momentum.
